welI l was hoping to avoid this tantalizing subject but I guess its all a part of the subject. So I get to share with those of you who are thinking of rabbit raising. So last Monday I noticed that Misty was sounding congested. Having read that respiratory ailments are the bane of rabbit breeders everywhere I was on high alert. The next morning it was worse but no snot or runny nose (thats a good thing). Well I was able to find a rabbit vet in Tempe. I found that most vets do not do rabbits so a good rabbit vet is very important. So I was able to get her in the same day. He looked her over and he said she was in good shape except for the perculating noise she was making. So he prescribed antibiotics to be administered orally.(FYI-if your vet gives you oral antibiotic for a rabbit make sure it is not one of the cillin's. A good rabbit vet knows this) This is where the rabbit rodeo begins. She does not like taking her meds and will jump, twist and convulse, scratch and nip to get out of the situation. She is also at this time holding a grudge but I digress. After four days of this I got online to see if there were any tips to medicating. And there is. Hide it in food. What a novel Idea. So I decided on blood orange and it worked wonders and no more rodeo. She is,however, still holding a grudge. We are working on that now.
