I am in need of some mesquite pods for my Quail.  Do you still have your mesquite pods or do you have mesquite flour now?

Hi John,

Mesquite seeds and pods are extremely hard and would damage and burn out a grain mill sooner rather than later.  That's why Desert Harvesters bought their hammermill for community use.  You can read more about them, their hammermill and their mesquite milling schedule here: http://www.desertharvesters.org/hammermill/ and here: http://www.desertharvesters.org/how-we-run-mesquite-millings/.

That said, I  have friends who grind small quantities of pods to produce flour in their blender.  You might find an inexpensive blender with a glass container at Goodwill or Salvation Army for a few dollars and just plan to replace it when it dies.  Most of the grain mills that I have looked at ar $200+ and the hammermills start around $2000 http://www.meadowsmills.com/forsalehm.htm.

Hope this helps - let me know what works.

HL
