to support and grow a food system in Maricopa County that thrives

So I live with 2 coffee addicts while I myself am a recovered addict. I used to drink multiple a day, but these days I don't drink coffee at all, and only treat myself to the rare caffeinated tea. Unfortunatley when our coffee mate broke they replaced it with a single serving gadget. It came with a little reusable cup that you can put the coffee grounds into and reuse time and again, but they prefer the pre packaged coffee grounds in tiny plastic cups. So we decided to recycle them. The plastic cups can be used as seed starters, and the grounds go into our compost daily.

It' not perfect, and I hope they will soon transition to using the reusable thing instead, but it's a start!

I feel like sustainability grows on me the more steps I take, the more I want to do. So I hope it will grow on them as well.

yes, a Keurig, I believe that's what we have. I noticed Carlie started using the reusable insert recently, which is cool. I had a tea today and realized it's sweet tea, so I don't think I can put it in the compost, but it can still be cleaned out and used as a seed starter so I think I'll plant some sunflower seeds to plant around town. May 1st is International Guerilla Sunflower day after all :) Let me know how your seed starter coffee cups work out :)

Hello former coffee addict.  I am an addict and we have a Keurig with the little K cups.  What a brilliant idea!  I've been throwing mine.  Considering how much it is per K cup I am definitely going to start saving them for seed pots.
