We're holding an organizational retreat on Saturday, Sep. 17 with the goal of creating a county-wide coalition/network/association of community gardens (CGs).
Greater Phoenix is one of the few large urban areas in the country without an existing network of CGs to provide support for CGs, increase skills, share resources, and advocate for CG-friendly policies in area municipalities. It's time that we organized as a formal group to help CGs grow and thrive in the Valley of the Sun.
A group of us have been meeting for approx. five months, laying the groundwork for an organization of CGs. Our retreat is open to anyone who wishes to support and/or join our work. The retreat will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sep. 17 at the Desert Botanical Garden on Galvin Parkway in Phoenix. Lunch (veggie and non-veggie sandwiches) and beverages will be provided at no cost to retreat participants. We need to have a count of the number of attendees for the lunch order, so it's important that you reserve a place.
For more information or to reserve a place at the retreat, please contact David Hill, Coordinator of the on-site Community Garden at Desert Botanical Garden. Please email David at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please join us and please help to get the word out about the retreat on Sep. 17. Reservations must be made by Sep. 10 in order to provide the correct number of lunches. Thank you!
