The Trials and Tribulations of an Eggplant`

I love that eggplants grow quickly and produce abundant pale lavender droopy blooms. They are very pretty and the plant is extremely easy to grow. These heat loving plants can take full sun in our harsh Arizona climate and if we have a mild winter, it's possible to grow them like an perennial.

One plant can provide around 50 fruits in a…

Sarama chickens!

The little buggers are perfect for our coop! Went out to check on them this eve and they were all happy to see me and ready for treats. I was thanked with 4 eggs this eve. I think we have another hen that has started laying.

Vanishing Bees Video 2009

This is a video link courtesy of the New Mexico Beekeepers Association that discusses Colony Collapse Disorder research up to about 2010. More importantly, it discusses honey bees and permaculture. Your ideas for a "green" retaining wall

Help. I recently bought a north facing house with concrete block walls in the back yard on all 3 sides. The back wall is 8" high , 74' across, with the ground sloping away from the wall about 6'.  We want to put in a retaining wall 4" high and plant there.

Any ideas on green material that won't heat up in the summer months to the alreay cement filled area?
