Can anyone give me a location in the northwest valley for a source for pumice? I am trying to get a plot ready for planting and taking the advice of Vinny the Garden guy by adding pumice so that my soil will be more porous, etc.
I have phoned several nurseries in the area but have not had any luck so far.
I live near the crossroads of Bell Rd. and 51st Avenue.

We just moved to Phoenix last year and I have been desperately looking for a food coop in the area to no avail. I've learned that there was a coop in Tempe many years ago, but it went under after it was moved to a new location.
Does anybody know why there is not a natural food coop in Phoenix? Is someone pursuing the idea of establishing a new coop or reviving the old one? Is there even any interest in having a reliable coop, where consumers can buy local products?… Continue

I have plans to continue to container garden again the rest of this year for sure. I have everything I need. I just have to build my strength back up since the surgery.

Well I have to go back to work this week, and I'm getting stronger every day. I attribute my fast healing and good health to my healthy diet I had before the gastric band Surgery! I have lost a total of 4 lbs.. 5 1/2 inches since the surgery 7/29/09! Dr said it will go faster as the swelling in my stomach goes down. He said I will not need my first fill for at least 1-2 months. I'm greatful that I chose not to start the garden when we moved in. I would have to had neglected it for at least 2… Continue

I love my Tom’s Shoes! They are simple slip on flats, no arch support, cool fabric-all cotton…and my buying these shoes enabled Tom’s to provide another pair of shoes FREE to a child in a developing nation who would otherwise be going without. That’s their mission: 2 pair of shoes;one for me and one for a child in need somewhere. I bought the mission; I bought the shoes.
And I find myself doing that more and more frequently. I buy fair trade organic coffee from Cartel Coffee Lab here… Continue

I finally built my bike powered grain mill. I am very excited about not having to do at least 12 cups a week of flour via hand crank. If anything it makes you appreciate your food more. Another thing I like about it is that it was 100% built with stuff I had or found, and 95% of it was trash. I love building stuff from trash, to me that is recycling. If you guys haven't baked your own bread or ground your flour, I highly recommend it. The taste is so much better than any thing in the store,… Continue

My 14 year old daughter got "busted" for taking 4 drops of Bach's White Chestnut Flower essence at her high school.
My daughter was diagnosed with A.D.D. and I choose not to put her on the prescribed narcotics. We went down that road before and it didn't work for us. My daughter couldn't eat, couldn't sleep and told me that she felt that it made her feel dull.
Flower essence seems to work for her, I gave her a bottle to take to… Continue
