I don't have enough ants!

I posted awhile ago about how I don't kill ants- nope, I don't do it! And I try not to use the word, "should" because my mother always taught me the world of "shoulds" is a world of judgement, but I'll make an exception and say you shouldn't kill ants either- or any insect for that matter- unless it's a cockroach inside your house- then I understand.

I watched this documentary last night, and I have gained yet even more respect for these fascinating creatures, and while I was aware of…

Chickens! Finally...

Well, after years of wanting to raise chickens for eggs but never pulling the trigger due to "not knowing enough" or "conditions not being perfect", I finally decided that I just needed to do it.  My wife's one requirement was that she didn't want me spending money on the run/hen house.

Carob Tree

When our carob tree is ready to harvest, we will let it be known. Last year several valley permaculture members came to help pick. We think everyone went home happy. Each had a gift bag of carob pods and a taste of fresh home grown carob nutrition. We will do it again. Thanks everyone. And forgive us for not remembering names the first time you came. We look forward to seeing you next time!

It is called New Dawn Sanctuary and is a 501c3 non-profit animal rescue. We have taken many rescued ducks and geese from Phoenix and other valley area Parks out to Nora who runs the place. They have everything from Chickens, Peacocks, Turkeys, Ducks and Geese to Potbelly Pigs, Llamas, Horses, Donkeys etc.   We have also…
