We have a beautiful, ready-to-pick loquat tree in our backyard. You are welcome to pick, actually snip off, as many little bundles as you like this afternoon, Tuesday, April 28, from 4-7 p.m. Please bring your own snippers/pruners and buckets or bags. We are located down the street from Baker Nursery (40th Street and Osborn). Text (602) 550-8983 for the address if you are interested in delicious and free loquats. We are happy to share!
It has been eleven months since the Valley of the Sun became 'home'. Eleven months since I dragged my buckets of iris and chamomile and orange globe mallow and mint into this foreign land of the sun and said,"Grow!" Alas, every green token of my life before died except the iris and mint. But, iris and mint grow anywhere, right? This spring I scattered chamomile seed in my daughter's now flourishing flowerbeds to no avail. It's a weed! Can I not even grow a weed? Last week I noticed a…Continue
What would the husband of “the wife of a worm farmer” talk about if he chose to take over the blog for a month? I know…WHY am I taking over for a month??? Yeah, I’m asking that too. Hi, We are looking for a rooster for our hens. If anyone has an extra rooster that needs a good home and plenty of hens, send him our way. :-) We are in Phoenix and can come pick him up this weekend.

My biggest fear in selling the house is that the future owner will not know what to do with the fruit trees! So I wanted to see if possibly another permie is looking for a great home in a good neighborhood with established fruit trees and a garden area.
In the front yard we have an Anna Apple, a Mid Pride…Continue
The afternoons are finally heating up, the sun stretching out its rays a little more each day. The okra says thank you and, being part lizard, so do I.
I have been assessing the garden one plant at a time, noting the good and the bad. Like the peppers. I grew peppers from seed last fall and they wintered well tho there was no real growth. Early March I…Continue
