I have not been able to find any information on whether it is advisable to compost african sumac leaves and seeds. I have an abundance of them and would like to be able to use them. I'm afraid that the seeds will sprout in my garden. I have just constucted my compost bin and have not added anything yet. Any suggestions?

i put a 4' flame grape vine in the ground two months ago, and almost all of it's foliage is grey and dropping - anybody know if this is normal, or should i be concerned? i haven't protected it from any of those nights we had near freezing because i thought they were hardy to well below 32. any advice on bringing it back? also, i haven't really watered it too much because of the rain we've had over the last 8-9 weeks, maybe it needs more?

I removed the apricot tree out of the northeast corner of my backyard and have now decided to plant the largest Ruby Red Grapefruit tree in its place. Any suggestions on what and where to buy the replacement tree? I would like to have a 6 or 8 foot tree planted.
Thanks
Fred

I am so discouraged with my garden experiment! Last year, at this time, my front beds were full of tomatoes, herbs, and flowers. I know I am sounding as sad and pathetic as my cilantro and parsley look, but no one even said they liked my sculpture! Of the snow pea seeds I planted, 7 came up, and last year had a 10 foot productive row. I need to find the inspiration to try some more, but... OK, I'm done, that was my Wa Wa Wa.

This is the forum post from the original avian rescue forum I'm a member of, that describes my year long and continuing effort to create bird care books. All the information in the pigeon book can help the owner of any bird. Much of the advice travels across back yard aviary lines with ease.
