About Me:
I live with Patch and Carlie in Laveen where we garden in our backyard. I also have a group of friends who garden together around town. We help get each other and our neighbors started, learn together, and try to help each other along the way.

Peppers, Peppers and...

We returned from our annual vacation to Sedona/Jerome area to find Jalepenos finally coming in! I also came home to a mailer packet full of seeds. Several kinds of Peppers, Tomatillos, melons, and more. Some to plant now, some for later in the year, and various types of lettuce specifically for the indoor Aquaponics system I plant to work on this summer.

The next day a friend took me to Gardeners' World east of us on Baseline, and I picked up 6 Banana Pepper starter plants that have…

This is HOW we garden (volunteer gardening)

Today I am picking up a hammock, a hammock chair, a broken lawn chair (which I'll fix) and preparing some seedlings to take over to This is HOW's Regina House. This is HOW is a non profit run by all volunteers. Regina House is a small house they recently bought to allow Transgender people in crisis a place to stay. If you'd like to donate plant starters, seeds, garden furniture, or time and energy, please do let me know.

It's a tiny house with a HUGE yard that wraps around. So…

Sunflower Spring!

Two sunflower seedlings sprouted today, so I took them out into the yard since they tend to really like the heat. They look so tiny out there! I am thinking of taking them to a local nonprofit I'm volunteering with. We're starting stage one of their garden transformation by setting up some private sitting areas in the yard so that residents can have a moment to themselves now and then. I have a berry bush that didn't make it, so I am donating that pot with a couple sunflowers in it to one of…

Making Coffee more sustainable

So I live with 2 coffee addicts while I myself am a recovered addict. I used to drink multiple a day, but these days I don't drink coffee at all, and only treat myself to the rare caffeinated tea. Unfortunatley when our coffee mate broke they replaced it with a single serving gadget. It came with a little reusable cup that you can put the coffee grounds into and reuse time and again, but they prefer the pre packaged coffee grounds in tiny plastic cups. So we decided to recycle them. The…
