Grafting & Growing Avocados

WHY: because AVOCADOS ARE AWESOME!

We love to grow them, they can grow and fruit here in the Valley...but, there can be some challenges.
Our November guest speaker, Stanley Ciomperlik (Ciomperlik Farms), will be joining us to share his experiences as a successful avocado orchardist in San Juan, TX.

In addition to harvesting and selling the fruit, Ciomperlik Farms is also a seller of seeds and budwood. Stanley will be demonstrating some of his favorite grafting techniques and talking about the care of those young grafts. And, will introduce some varieties to us that we are hoping to trial here in Arizona.

Stay Tuned for MORE Details!

We will be adding requesting an RSVP for this event so that we can plan for adequate and comfortable seating arrangements and refreshments.

Please note: EVERYONE is welcome to attend, but there will also be a $5 fee for non-members (or AZRFG/CRFG) to help us defray our expenses for our speaker's travel and accomodations.

LOCATION NOTE: We will be meeting in the Navajo Room (in the Kirk Student Center) on the MCC Campus. A campus map will be posted next week (week of Oct 19 - 23), as there have been some very recent construction updates on campus blocking some of the pathways to get from the nearest parking areas to this building.

Thanks for your patience.

Ran across this 2008 article on avocado growers/cultivar developers in Texas, including the cooler parts of Texas while researching this topic:
