Wild style Bee Block

"What size are your holes in these bee blocks? I know of a woodworking class that's making bee blocks and they're looking for tips as to what size holes suit our bee populations here in the Valley. "

Profile Information

About Me:
I raise white doves. Currently housed is one mated couple, Sanjaya and Sugar, one single cock, Zoltan, and the 5 offspring of the mated couple. These are Cream, Oshala, Salt, River, and Aracelli. While I really can't tell the gender of the young doves, the names are fairly random. They fly to me and eat out of my hand, which is nice. I also care for 3 adopted pigeons.
I have three pet chicken hens.
My chickens and doves started this gardening urge. Good manure is powerful stuff and I want to use it.
I'm a Reiki Master Teacher.
I had at one point EMT and CNA credentials, and a degree in human anatomy. Natural and herbal medicines is a passion of mine, and I've done at least a year of research on applying that knowledge to Avians. I can help with sick/injured birds such as chickens, doves, pigeons. Currently I'm working up to teach a possible class in alternative medicine for the micro livestock in our lives.

Recent rescue and rehab of a terribly injured baby dove.

Only natural remedies such as colloidal silver and Neem were used to save this tiny life.

New location for Bird Care information.

If you raise doves or pigeons for Micro livestock, I have posted the free pigeon and dove care and rescue book for easy viewing here:
Pigeons are a great part of permaculture. They add a pulse of life to the garden, and free manure.
Duck Care, Rabbit Care, and Chicken Care will also be uploaded. It is a site for fiction works but I could not find one for non-fiction posts.

Scary little thing called LIFE!

I have discovered LIFE in my garden. All kinds of life forms, of a variety that dizzies me. I cannot identify or quantify it. Plants, animals, and insects seem to be settling in. Wasps, spiders, bugs...

I have harvested squash, fished my first egg out of the chicken coop, and taken pictures.

All this life seems to have attracted the Gila woodpecker, emerald hummingbird, gamble quail, inca dove, mourning dove, finches, love birds, lizards, and an astonishing array of feral… Continue

Rain! It is rolling off my roof and traveling to Basin garden!

Looks like my rain harvesting plot has succeeded! It is coming off my roof, down an incline in the soil, right into my pit garden. Raised beds can't do this, baby!

Garden Success!

The infiltration basin is larger, because I got some volunteer digging to help me out for Mother's day! And I planted a nectarine tree in it. A forest of bird seed plants is growing, and I am thinning it and feeding the plants to the chickens, who love sprouted birdseed with all their beaky little hearts.

A pile of squash plants is growing as well.

My hot tub is all plugged in and chugging away, and oh so nice to soak in.

I'm wondering if I should shade the tree.… Continue

Hi- Your dove's are beautiful !!!
I also just noticed an old post of yours from Nov or Oct of 2008. In it you mention C& C Hatchery. I just spoke wth the owner on the phone the other day. What did you think of the place, I haven't been out there yet? I am probably going to get my chickens from there. Also, I saw in another post something about you having an E-Book on bird/chicken care. Where can I get your book. I would love to learn more about natural methods to care for chickens.

Thanks !
Beth
