New tomato leaves look odd

The new leaves on my tomato plants look strange.  They're a bit leathery and shriveled, and their color is lighter around the edges.  The plants in question are heirloom tomatoes.  They were growing…Continue

"Citrus is a (the) winter fruit.  Depending upon your microclimate and the vagaries of each year Tango may be edible around the beginning of Dec.  But they will likely reach their peak in Jan-Feb.  And be good on the tree through March."

"Wow, that long? So if the fruit had set with the first flowering, it stays on the tree for nine months or so before it's ripe?"

Tango Mandarin in Phoenix

I've had a tango mandarin planted for four years now -- it's the most lush of my citrus trees and puts out lots of lovely flowers each spring, but the fruit always immediately drops. With the cooler temps we had in May, I have several flowers appear late in the season, and I just noticed that I have two good-sized mandarins on it -- I'm so excited!  When do mandarins ripen in Phoenix -- is there a chance I'll actually get fruit this year? See More

"Citrus, no.  I remove fruit so that it is not going to be within 18" of the ground and one of any doublets once I see them  because I do not like fruit touching each other.  But neither is necessary.  Citrus does not respond…"

"I thinned off almost 300 peaches from my Eva's Pride this year.  Try to leave at least 6-8" between fruits.  This tree is 5 years old, planted as a bareroot.  Sure set on a lot of fruit this year."

"Great question!  I usually pinch off apple buds with my fingernails, otherwise cut off if you have scissors or herb pruners.  You want to avoid damaging the fruiting spur.  For citrus pull off if convenient or cut off.  I rarely…"

YW Patricia.  Last year someone posted "Where is Catherine?" and started a buzz.  Catherine prefers not to broadcast her out-of-town status so she asked me to keep an eye out for postings.  Have a great day!  Here come 'da heat - ugh!

Glad you liked a couple of my pics. The fire one is the best kind of silly. As for the photo of Bryce Canyon, that was taken on a cell phone! You can imagine how stunning it is in person.
