July 26th: Discover Water Harvesting at a breakfast potluck and historic home tour

Where: Near 28th St and Osborn Rd in Phoenix in the Phoenix Homesteads Neighborhood (exact address and parking instructions upon registration)

When: Saturday, July 26th 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM

Cost: FREE, please bring a dish to share.

Start your day under tall, shady trees at a potluck breakfast in the Phoenix Homesteads neighborhood. Enjoy pancakes made with local mesquite flour along with homemade preserves for the toppings. Please bring a dish to share—if you can make it from locally grown foods, even better.

Our hosts: Watershed Management Group's (WMG) Green Living Co-op members Robert and Bea have lived in their 1930’s adobe home for over 20 years. They use a double-cistern installed during a WMG water harvesting certification course to capture rainwater for seedlings and veggies, with future plans for an outdoor shower. Citrus, stone fruit trees, espalier apples, grapes and garden areas are planted throughout their ¼ acre property.

Built during the Great Depression as an FSA project, their “Phoenix Homesteads Neighborhood” was created for self-sufficiency; small homes with large lots, flood irrigation, communal laundry rooms and a local dairy nearby...right in the middle of Phoenix!

Potluck Breakfast starts at 9:00 a.m., and our hosts will give short tours throughout the morning. Please register so that the host can plan accordingly.

Thanks for posting, Jennifer! I've already registered myself. Will you be there? It would be so great to finally meet you.

I'll be there!  I'm part of the cleanup crew - LOL!
